Official Release of the Slipstream Flying Fish in USA
Nomad Design Tackle has officially announced the release of the Pat. Pending Slipstream Flying Fish to the United States tackle market. Damon Olsen wanted to thank everyone that helped turn this bait into a reality. “We knew we could make a life like imitation of the flying fish, which everything in the ocean loves to eat and we could do it better and cheaper than rigging a dead frozen bait.”
Damon visited the USA pre-covid and was introduced to using frozen flying fish for bait in California. It was on this trip the idea for the Flying Fish was hatched and he immediately started working on the concept upon his return to Australia. The project encompassed years of R&D with the entire Nomad organization, including both the USA and overseas.
Designed to skip or ‘fly’ over the water, the Slipstream Flying Fish can be trolled far back or in short, as well as from a kite, performing varied actions based on the wave height and trolling speed. After extensive development and many prototypes, the final bait became available for testing in early 2021, with several fish including a nice Marlin caught.
Initially released to Australia as it was summer when the Slipstream became available, the immediate acceptance from Australian anglers encouraged the American team to start showing dealers in late Fall of 2021, and the orders started rushing in.
“This has been a long journey and we suspect will be an ongoing process to bring something so innovative and unseen before and we could not be prouder.” Nomad has booked in product to all its relevant dealers, and will be showing the Slipstream at the RISAA New England Saltwater Show on March 11th.
One thing is sure, the concept, look and feel of the Slipstream, and the imagination it sparks is sure to make a splash.
