The Birth of the Nomad Vibe Tribe: From the Coral Sea to Jupiter, Florida

Nomad Design Tackle’s story didn’t start in a boardroom it began on the open ocean. In the early 2000s, Nomad founder Damon Olsen was running fishing charters through Australia’s remote Coral Sea aboard the Good Ship Nomad. It was there, long before Nomad became a premier global tackle company, that a young captain named Boshammer helped Damon kickstart an adventure that would evolve into something much bigger.

Fast forward two decades, and that same pioneering spirit runs in the family. Captain Jarad “Dingo” Boshammer, the son of Damon’s early crewmate, had spent his career fishing the world’s biggest tournaments, chasing giant marlin, tuna, and billfish across multiple continents. After years on the global circuit, he found a new home in Jupiter, Florida, where he quickly built a reputation as one of the area’s most respected inshore guides.

In 2021, Dingo came across a lure that would change everything the Nomad Vertrex Vibe. Already a proven fish catcher in Australia and Asia, the Vertrex was still a mystery to most American anglers. Designed to vibrate on the lift and swim naturally on the fall, it had taken overseas fisheries by storm. But in the U.S., it was met with hesitation, unfamiliar shape, unfamiliar style, unfamiliar results.

That is, until Dingo walked into a local tackle shop, spotted a small batch of Vertrex Vibes, and bought every single one. Days later, the photos started rolling in, massive Snook, Redfish, and Tarpon, all caught on the Vibe. When Damon saw what was happening in Jupiter, he knew it was time to see it for himself.

By August, the Nomad USA team flew down to Florida to fish with Dingo and capture what would become the start of the Vibe Tribe. Conditions were perfect — bluebird skies, calm water, and the right moon phase. Dingo welcomed the crew aboard his Chittum Carbon Skiff (“no shoes, please”), and as the engines idled through Jupiter’s winding backwaters, he couldn’t stop talking about the Vertrex.

“Vibe this, Vibe that, Vibe here, Vibe there,” he said. Finally, someone asked, “What’s a Vibe?”
Dingo laughed. “Vibe, the bait, the technique, the whole style of fishing. You know... Vibing!”

The team soon realized this wasn’t just a lure, it was an entirely new way to fish, completely under the radar in the U.S.

Once on the water, Dingo gave a quick lesson in “Vibing” how to cast, lift, and control the fall to trigger bites. Within minutes, the results were undeniable. Fish after fish hit the deck, growing in size with every hookup. By the end of the morning, the crew had landed a dozen Snook over 42 inches, all released healthy and all caught on the Vertrex.

Even the camera operator, a Jupiter local, joined the fun, catching his personal best and then beating it ten minutes later with a 45-inch Snook. By 1 p.m., everyone was grinning, exhausted, and convinced, this was the start of something big.

The footage from that trip became the foundation of the Vibe Tribe launch video, and the beginning of a movement that spread fast across the country.

From that day forward, “Vibing” became more than a technique it became a community. Dingo was crowned the OG Vibemaster, and the Nomad Vibe Tribe was born. What started with Snook in Jupiter quickly expanded to Redfish, Striper, Grouper, and even freshwater bass.

As Nomad hit the road with Dingo to showcase the technique, anglers everywhere caught on. The Vertrex Vibe, once a mystery became one of the most talked-about and effective lures in the U.S. inshore scene.

“We knew Vibing was going to be a thing,” Dingo said.
“Snook were just the beginning.”
