Born on the Odyssey mothership in Australia’s Coral Sea, Nomad Design grew from founder Damon Olsen’s passion for creating tackle tough enough to handle the planet’s most extreme fishing conditions.

What started as a need became innovation: gear built, tested, and proven in the harshest waters. The Nomad Odyssey is our ongoing pursuit of the ultimate tackle, shaped by real adventures and relentless testing.This isn’t just our story it’s every angler’s story. The early Odyssey episodes will take you back to where it all began in the Coral Sea, back to the Nomad Sportfishing Adventures era where uncharted reefs and huge fish were waiting to be discovered by crazy pioneering anglers. The early days of Nomad Sportfishing saw fly in floatplane adventures to some of the most remote Coral Reefs on earth. It was the first time anyone had ever flown a seaplane to these remote reefs and the first Odyssey mothership was purpose built with jet fuel storage to allow this incredible adventure to unfold.

The early days of Nomad Sportfishing was a story as old as mankind. Young men in search of adventure pushing the boundaries of what was possible and doing things that had never been done before. Led by Damon's sense of adventurethe early days of charter were filled with incredible stories and adventure. The Odyssey series will take you on a journey from these early days all the way to the present day and the incredible story of how Nomad Design tackle still embraces the same sense of adventure and the push for innovation.
